Research

Interested in aqueous geochemistry and biogeochemistry? I often have open positions. If you'd like to know more, please feel free to contact me. My research is primarily focused on aqueous geochemistry and biogeochemistry; I seek to integrate field, laboratory and modeling studies of mineral-water-biological interactions near the earth's surface.

Ongoing Projects

  • 2008-2011 Development and evaluation of a problem-based field and laboratory environmental geochemistry course", National Science Foundation Geoscience Education Program, $134,000 (co-PI: Heather Petcovic).
  • 2011-2012 "Impact of road salt on the geochemistry of an urban kettle lake" Western Michigan Faculty Research and Creative Activites Fund, $10000, 2011-2012
  • 2010-2012 "Development of surface complexation models for Cr(VI) adsorption on soils, sediments, and model mixtures of kaolinite, montmorillonite, y-alumina, hydrous manganese and ferric oxides and goethite", Department of Energy Environmental Remediation Science Program, $149,358, sole PI
