This scholarship was created in memory by friends and family of Peter Kaczor who graduated in 1994 with a major in Geology. Peter Kaczor was a strong athlete who was training for a triathlon when he was hit and killed by a car while riding his bicycle. His friends and family want to create a lasting legacy in his memory. Peter was a proud outdoorsman who loved to shoot and bird hunt, enjoyed camping, and loved to take his son fishing. Peter also enjoyed exercising and spending time outdoors. He was a very traditional and conservative fellow who loved Christ, his family and his church.
The scholarship will be available to undergraduate students in their junior year with a GPA of 3.0 or above in their core classes. Preference will be given to those with a general knowledge of the United States Constitution including the number of articles, and the purpose of The Bill of Rights; specifically the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 9th amendments and a general understanding of incorporation. Preference will also be given to those who share interests in outdoor activities and athletics. The Scholarship Committee will be responsible for confirming the recipient's knowledge and interest in these areas.
The scholarship shall be credited directly to the recipient's account to be used for tuition, fees, room and board and books. One half of the scholarship will be given during fall semester and one half shall be given during the subsequent semester. The scholarship is not renewable.

This fund will be used for WMU sponsored Study Abroad expenses for group travel for faculty, staff and students of the Department of Geosciences. Expenses allowed include costs for travel arrangements, lodging, food, entrance fees to exhibits, etc. and will be divided equally for all travel participants.

This endowment was established in honor of William and Linda Harrison who have accomplished much at and for MGRRE. It shall be used exclusively for the benefit of the Department of Geosciences, to support professional development of its students, faculty, and staff.

This endowment was established in honor of Douglas Daniels, who supported the Geosciences Department throughout his career as a geologist. Scholarships will be awarded to at least an undergraduate junior with a declared major in Geology.
Scholarships will be awarded for a) tuition, fees, and books at WMU; b) funding geological research projects; c) geologically related activities that are in keeping with the spirit and intent of the Douglas Daniels Scholarship. The department would like to thank the family and friends of Douglas Daniels for establishing this endowment in his honor.

This endowment will support course-related field trip activities conducted by the Department of Geosciences. Suggested uses might be for group travel for faculty, staff, and students. Expenses allowed include costs for bus transportation, lodging, food, entrance fees to exhibits, etc. and will be divided equally for all travel participants.
Mohamed I. Sultan Endowment
Funds generated by this endowment will be used at the discretion of the Chair of the Department of Geosciences for any purpose that he or she feels will support undergraduate or graduate students, preferably for students involved in research activities related to the fields of remote sensing/GIS or hydrogeology. Expenses allowed include costs for travel to field site/conferences and general research purposes (e.g. software, books, equipment, supplies, etc.)
The Department of Geosciences has established this endowment to distribute monies to Graduate and Undergraduate Geology students. Student requirements shall be decided and posted at a later date.

The Lloyd Schmaltz Quasi-Endowment Fund is in honor of Dr. Lloyd Schmaltz for his continuos generous support to the Geosciences Department. Dr. Schmaltz was the founder and first chair of the department. Even though Dr. Schmaltz has been retired for 20 years he continues to participate in the department and MGRRE activities.
Lloyd Schmaltz Quasi-Endowment Fund was established to promote educational and research activities of students and faculty in the Department of Geosciences. It shall be used at the discretion of the department chair. The department would like to thank Dr. Schmaltz for his support and guidance.

This scholarship is being established by Envirologic Technologies, Inc. of Kalamazoo, MI to be awarded in Fall 2010. The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time undergraduate and/or graduate student pursuing studies in the Department of Geosciences. Special consideration will be given to students who: 1) have overcome obstacles such as socioeconomic or educational disadvantage or disabilities, or who are first generation in their family to attend college; or 2) are members of groups that are underrepresented at WMU. First preference will be given to U.S. citizens with a demonstrated financial need with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. One scholarship shall be awarded annually with one-half of the award given in the fall semester and one-half in the spring semester. The scholarship is renewable provided the recipient remains a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the Department of Geosciences and has demonstrated satisfactory academic progress.

W. Richard Laton is establishing this endowment to be used to support scholarships and buy equipment/supplies for Western Michigan University's Hydrogeology Field Course. Half of the endowment's spendable dollars will be used for undergraduate or graduate scholarships for students enrolled in the Field Course, and the remaining half shall be used to purchase equipment and supplies for the Hydrogeology Field Course. One scholarship will be awarded annually beginning Fall 2010 and will be credited directly to the recipient's student account to be used for tuition and fees.

The Department of Geosciences and the Director of the Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education (MGRRE) has established this endowment to be used exclusively to support MGRRE work and activities. These include: staff support; equipment acquisition and maintenance; supplies; sample preparation, maintenance, and transport; workshop organization and presentation; and student support for those activities associated with MGRRE sponsored projects. The fund may also be used to purchase the existing building or to purchase or construct another facility for MGRRE.

This endowment has been established by the Geosciences Advisory Council in order to help fund activities leading to the advancement of the Geosciences undergraduate and/or graduate student population.

Alan E. Kehew Endowment
Funds generated by this endowment will be used at the discretion of the Chair of the Department of Geosciences for any purpose that he or she feels will support travel costs for field work and/or conference presentations for those students preferably working on glacial geology and hydrogeology.
Ronald B. Chase Endowment
Funds generated by this endowment will be used at the discretion of the Chair of the Department of Geosciences for any purpose that he or she feels will support summer field camps, preferably Upper Peninsula field camp for geology majors and group travel for faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Geosciences. Expenses allowed include costs for travel arrangements, lodging, food, entrance fees to exhibits, etc. and will be divided equally for all travel participants.
Christopher J. Schmidt Endowment
Funds generated by this endowment will be used at the discretion of the Chair of the Department of Geosciences for any purpose that he or she feels will support undergraduate field oriented research preferably in structural geology and/or any aspect of hard rock geology.
Randall Kerhin Graduate Endowment
This fund shall be used to establish a scholarship to be awarded to a full-time graduate student. Preference shall be given to eligible graduate students who have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
