Graduate Programs

At the graduate level we offer a Ph.D. program in Geosciences, an M.Sc. in Geosciences and an M.A. in Earth Sciences. Our Ph.D. and M.Sc. programs are intended as professional degrees for students continuing in a geosciences career. Our M.A. program is intended for students who plan careers outside the geosciences but whose work or specialty would benefit from an in-depth education in the geologic sciences.

*PLEASE NOTE: Independent Study, Master's Thesis, and Doctoral Dissertation credits have maximum limits that can be counted toward your degree. Please see list below.

  • GEOS 6340-no more than 6 hours
  • GEOS 7000-6 hours, once Master students start taking this course they need to continue until they graduate (only 6 hours will count towards degree)
  • GEOS 7100-no more than 6 credit hours
  • GEOS 7120-no more than 12 credit hours
  • GEOS 7300-15 hours, once Ph.D. students start taking this course they need to continue until they graduate (only 15 hours will count towards degree)
  • GEOS 7350-no more than 10 credit hours (Only Doctoral students can take this course)
